The timing of the Exodus out of Egypt was not set by the people—it was set by God. He established how and when they would be released, reminding us that deliverance is not something we orchestrate. Instead, we trust God to be our deliverer and instruct us step by step. Explore episodes 31-40 and be encouraged on your journey.
God remembers…
He recalls His covenant and assures Moses that He sees what is happening to His people. When He declares, “I am the LORD,” it is an invitation to look to Him and focus on Him. This speaks into our own places of oppression and brokenness. We are called to know Him and see Him.
God plans…
His plans are intentional and begin even from the womb. Like Moses, we may respond in similar ways to the Lord, “I can’t…” Yet God’s response is clear: Go… speak what I have spoken to you.
God empowers…
He equips Moses with words backed by power—confirmed through signs and wonders. God provides specific instruction on what to say and how to demonstrate him as the LORD.
God moves…
Through a variety of plagues and signs, His power is undeniable. Yet Pharoah resists, hardening his heart and clinging to control. Even so, God’s power is demonstrated clearly as He distinguishes between plagues experienced by the Egyptians and not by the Hebrews. We see Moses’ model of how to stand firm under oppressive leadership.
God uses creation…
The plagues demonstrate His authority over people, animals, insects, water, and weather. Eventually, Pharoah reaches his breaking point, ending the negotiations with Moses, setting the stage for the final deliverance.
God gives favor…
As the Israelites prepare to leave, God instructs them to ask for gold and silver from their Egyptian neighbors. They collect bounty—given to them. This unexpected provision later serves God’s greater purpose. The final plague leads to their deliverance and the institution of Passover points forward to redemption through Christ, the ultimate Passover lamb.
God leads…
Instead of the shortest route, God leads them another way with a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. When Pharoah pursues them and they stand trapped at the Sea, God again reveals His power and rescue. Miraculously making a way, the nation moves forward, led by the LORD.
The God who delivered His people then still rescues today. He desires to free us from the “Egypt” within our own hearts and lives. We follow Him to live as a woman of courage, walking forward, trusting His guidance into what He has ahead.
